'Kidnapper couple' arrested, two girls recovered

Minor girl rescued in 72 hours after kidnapping, rickshaw driver held

District Malir Investigation Police have arrested a couple, involved in kidnapping children, and recovered two kidnapped girls from the couple's house. One of recovered girls was kidnapped three years ago.

A case of the kidnapping of 14-year-old Laiba Batool was registered at Quaidabad police station, against unidentified suspects, on the complaint of the abductee's brother, Muhammad Munshi Khan. Investigation revealed that after Laiba's disappearance, a trace of a family's migration from the neighbourhood was found. Based on intelligence, police then conducted a raid, recovering Laiba from the possession of the relocated family. The accused, Sajid Altaf Hussain, and his wife Haseena alias Saima, were arrested.

Police also recovered Reena, who went missing from within the limits of Sukhan police station three years ago. She was taken into custody, however, her family had not registered a case of her kidnapping or disappearance, and so police are searching for them.

The recovered girls will be presented in court to record their statements, while investigation of the arrested couple is underway.

Minor girl rescued

The Clifton police have rescued a kidnapped minor girl within 72 hours and arrested the rickshaw driver involved in the crime.

The incident of kidnapping was reported from DHA Khayaban-e-Shamsher, Phase V. According to the mother of the kidnapped girl, her five-year-old daughter Rashida along with her brother Waheed was returning from eating at Badar Commercial when a rickshaw driver offered them a ride. On the way, the rickshaw driver stopped in front of a shop and gave Rs50 to Waheed asking him to bring biscuits from the shop. As the boy went into the shop, the rickshaw driver escaped taking the minor girl with him.

The police registered a case and with the help of modern technology and CCTV footage arrested rickshaw driver Nazeer within 72 hours. The police safely rescued the minor girl, seized the rickshaw and also recovered two fake press cards from Nazeer. The girl was handed over to her parents.

The accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate South who handed him over to the police on three-day physical remand.
