An employee of Karachi Water & Sewage Corporation (KWSC) affiliated with MQM-P Liaquatabad Sector died at a private hospital after he was seriously injured in a firing incident at a tea cafe at Al-Karam Square in Liaquatabad late on Wednesday.
According to details, Adeel Ali alias Ali Builder was a resident of FC Area Liaquatabad, and an employee of the Water Board. Adeel was the member of Liaquatabad sector, and Mustafa was the joint unit in-charge of the Alkram Square unit.
They were injured when four armed men riding two motorcycles opened indiscriminate fire. Four people were injured in the firing, identified as Adeel Ali, 38; Mustafa, 35; Muhammad Ishfaq, 58; and Abdul Khaliq, 22.
Adeel and Mustafa, were taken to a private hospital, while Muhammad Ishfaq and Abdul Khaliq were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Initial investigation by the police suggests that the target of the attackers was Adeel, while the other injured individuals were caught in the crossfire. The incident appears to be a case of personal enmity rather than a political motive.
The police are facing challenges in obtaining CCTV footage due to a power outage in the area at the time of the incident. It is stated that Adeel had no known enmity with anyone. He leaves behind four daughters, one son, and wife.
Funeral prayer of Adeel Ali was offered at the central Imambargah, Ancholi, on Thursday. A large number of Haq Parast leaders and workers attended the funeral. Later, the deceased was laid to rest at the Wadi-e-Hussain graveyard.
