Pop star Jessie J has revealed she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.
The singer, 37, shared the news in an emotional Instagram video, explaining she will undergo surgery following her performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium later this month.
The Price Tag and Domino hitmaker, real name Jessica Cornish, said she had been "in and out of tests" and is trying to remain positive. “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’,” she said. Jokingly, she added, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.”
Jessie J also shared that she plans to step back from public appearances after the event to recover and reflect, adding, “Honestly, I need a hug.” The star said she hopes going public helps her process the diagnosis and show solidarity with others battling similar illnesses.
In the video, Jessie opened up about how fans have supported her through hard times in the past and said she didn’t want this to be any different.
Messages of love poured in from celebrities including Rita Ora, Leona Lewis, and Gaby Roslin, while Breast Cancer UK praised Jessie for raising awareness and emphasized the importance of early detection and regular self-checks.
Jessie J has previously been open about her health struggles, including a childhood heart condition, a stroke at age 18, Meniere’s disease, and more recently, diagnoses of ADHD and OCD.
The singer recently turned down a Broadway role to focus on her young son, underlining that family and health remain her top priorities.
