Injured suspects netted after 'crossfire'

Police and outlaws exchanged fire for more than 50 minutes

RAWALPINDI:

Two alleged criminals were injured and arrested following a crossfire with the police in the Rawat area on Tuesday. Two others managed to escape.

A stolen vehicle and illicit weapons were also recovered. According to officials, the Rawat police and CCD team attempted to stop four suspicious individuals traveling in a car.

The suspects opened fire on the police team. During the exchange of fire, constable Mudassir Rasheed was hit in the chest; however, he was unharmed due to his bulletproof vest.

Two suspects identified as Muhammad Hamza and Jawad Khan, both from Peshawar, were injured and taken into custody before being shifted to the hospital.

Two others, identified as Anis and Sajid, managed to flee. Weapons and the stolen vehicle were recovered from the arrested suspects. Police teams have been formed to track down the fugitives.
