
A suspect, accused of stealing a cow, died under mysterious circumstances in a lockup of the Tandlianwala police station on Monday.
The deceased's family members blocked the road outside the police station and accused the police of torturing the suspect to death. They demanded action against the police officials involved. The police handed over the deceased's body to his family after conducting an autopsy. The post-mortem report confirmed that the prisoner died due to a heart attack.
The police registered a case of accidental death. The Capital Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad, Sahibzada Bilal Umar, took notice of the incident and ordered the SP Saddar Division to conduct an inquiry.
The SP Saddar Division, Tahir Kachi, DSP Saddar, and SHO Tandlianwala Police Station Waqas Hindal, reached the hospital and handed over the body to the family after the autopsy.
The SHO said that the prisoner died due to a heart attack while in custody, which was confirmed by the medical report.
The CPO Faisalabad has demanded a detailed report from the SP Saddar Division after the inquiry.
Separately, a three-year-old boy was injured after being hit by a bull on Pul Korian Samundri Road. He was shifted to the hospital after medical aid.
