ISTANBUL:

A top ranking operative of the outlawed Islamic State (IS or Daesh), who played a key role in the terrorist group's media and logistics networks, was captured from Pakistan-Afghanistan border in a joint intelligence operation, Turkish security sources told Anadolu Agency on Sunday.

They said Ozgur Altun, also known by the codename "Abu Yasir Al Turki," was wanted by Turkiye on charges of directing plots that targeted concert venues and other civilian sites in Turkiye and across Europe.

Turkiye's National Intelligence Organization had tracked Altun's activities and uncovered that he was coordinating the movement of IS fighters from Europe and Central Asia to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.
