Two alleged heroin addicts lost their lives while attempting to steal a high-voltage electricity line near the Galle Baba graveyard in the Tehkal Bala area late Saturday night, according to police sources.
The bodies of the two men, found with severe burn injuries, were discovered near the graveyard early Sunday. Authorities believe the pair was trying to cut an 11,000-volt power line when electricity was unexpectedly restored, resulting in fatal electric shocks. Police recovered tools commonly used for illegal power connections, including a wooden stick and wire typically used for hooking live wires, from the scene.
Local residents reported that the power had gone out in the area during the night. The two men allegedly attempted to tamper with the line during the outage, not anticipating the sudden return of power.
DSP Town Asif Sharif confirmed that both individuals remain unidentified. In an effort to establish their identities, police have released a video of the deceased on social media. A formal report has been filed, and further investigation is underway.
In a shocking new trend, drug addicts in Peshawar have begun stealing electricity wires in a daring, Spider-Man-like fashionclimbing poles and leaping between structures to cut and sell high-voltage cables.
