ISLAMABAD:

Seven India-backed terrorists were killed in two separate operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), while four security personnel, including a young officer, embraced martyrdom in an exchange of fire, the military’s media wing reported on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on the night of May 28–29, Indian-sponsored ‘Khwarij’ attempted to attack a security forces check post in the general area of Shawal in North Waziristan district.

“Own troops effectively thwarted the attempt and, during the intense exchange of fire, six Indian-sponsored Khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.

However, four soldiers, including Lieutenant Daniyal Ismail (24, resident of Mardan), were martyred in the engagement. The three other soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice were identified as Naib Subedar Kashif Raza (42, Chakwal), Lance Naik Fiaqat Ali (35, Haripur), and Sepoy Muhammad Hameed (26, Abbottabad).

In a separate encounter in Chitral district, security forces “successfully neutralised another Indian-sponsored Khwarij”. The ISPR said sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored kharji in the area.

It reiterated the military's commitment to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan. “Security forces remain determined to eliminate the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country,” ISPR added.
