Five police officers dead as vehicle falls into ravine in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD:

At least five police officers lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Tolipir area of Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), on Wednesday evening.

According to the police, a vehicle fell into a deep ravine in which five police officers lost their lives on the spot. Upon receiving the news of the accident, the administration and police rushed to the spot and brought out the bodies from the vehicle.

AJK PM Chaudhry Anwarul Haq expressed deep sorrow, grief over the tragic accident and ordered an immediate inquiry into the incident by the DIG Poonch.

He also extended condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed that Allah elevate the ranks of the deceased and grant patience to the bereaved families.

Those who died in the accident were identified as Assistant Director Regional Office Rawalakot Zakir Awan, resident of Dara Batingi Muzaffarabad; Inspector Chaudhry Naveed Ahmed, resident of Khoiratta, District Kotli, who was the SHO at Khai Gala Rawalakot; Inspector Telecommunication Yasir Bashir Kayani, resident of Chehla Bandi Muzaffarabad; Sub Inspector Regional Office Rawalakot Syed Ali Bukhari, resident of Jabi Syedan in District Haveli; and Constable Muhammad Faheem, resident of Dreak, posted at Regional Office Rawalakot.
