Karachi police mobile rolls into ditch after collision with dumper

Errant driver abandoned his vehicle, fled the site after the accident

A fast-moving dumper hit a Madadgar 15 police mobile near the Northern Bypass cattle market on Thursday night, causing the vehicle to flip several times before falling into a nearby ditch.

Despite the extensive damage to the police mobile, all officers inside were miraculously unharmed.

The incident reportedly occurred near Masood Chowk, where the dumper, identified by its registration number TAN 591, hit the Madadgar 15 police vehicle.

SHO Mohammad Ali Shah of Surjani Town Police explained that the dumper had swerved to avoid hitting a motorcyclist and lost control, striking the parked police mobile.

Following the crash, the driver of the dumper fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.

The police have launched a search operation to apprehend the driver. The incident is under investigation, and authorities are working to identify the responsible party.

Two days back, a speeding dumper truck loaded with sand overturned onto a rickshaw near LDA Avenue in Chung, killing three people on the spot.

The accident occurred near a traffic signal when the overloaded dumper, reportedly driven at high speed, hit the motorcycle before crushing the rickshaw beneath it.

Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash. Two victims died instantly, while the third succumbed to his injuries during treatment in a hospital.

The deceased were identified as 32-year-old Umair, 25-year-old Tayyab and 30-year-old Waseem. The authorities seized the dumper and took the driver into custody.

A case was registered against him for reckless driving. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver had failed to maintain control over the vehicle, possibly due to speeding and overloading.

A few days earlier, five people had died after a dumper had ran over rickshaws on the GT Road.
