PESHAWAR:

Two polio workers were abducted by armed assailants in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Tank district on Monday, during an ongoing anti-polio vaccination campaign.

According to police, the victims were identified as Sifatullah, (COMNet Staff), and Hizbullah, a volunteer polio worker. They were carrying out their duties when the incident took place in the tribal subdivision of Jandola.

The district administration condemned the abduction and a case has been registered against unknown perpetrators. A search operation has been launched to locate and safely recover the kidnapped workers.

The abduction and attacks on polio workers are grave concerns, particularly in the tribal areas of Pakistan. Polio workers and their security escorts have frequently been targeted, especially in K-P and Balochistan.
