PESHAWAR:

Two major political parties are set to stage demonstrations on GT Road in Peshawar today, showcasing their political strength and raising key issues.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will protest against alleged corruption, deteriorating law and order, and other provincial government policies, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will hold a separate protest against drone strikes in tribal districts.

Due to these demonstrations, GT Road is expected to be closed to traffic from afternoon onward, causing potential disruptions to the city's transport network.

The PPP protest is scheduled for 2 PM outside Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. The party leadership from the province will address the rally, highlighting concerns over governance and administrative failures in the region.

Meanwhile, PTI's protest, led by the party's provincial president Junaid Akbar Khan, will take place at 5 PM in the Hashtnagri area. The demonstration is in response to recent drone attacks in the tribal areas.

Authorities anticipate significant traffic congestion across the city, particularly on GT Road.

Commuters may also face delays on inner-city routes including Dalazak Road, Dabgari, Saddar, and Khyber Road due to the protests and associated road closures.
