Woman killed by husband

Solangi disclosed that Ayesha had married Ismail six months ago

KARACHI:

A 22-year-old woman was fatally shot by her husband in Maula Essa Goth in Gulshan-e-Maymar, in what appears to be a case of domestic violence. The victim, identified as Ayesha Solangi, was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

According to the victim's maternal uncle, Anwar Ali Solangi, Ayesha had been subjected to physical abuse by her husband, Ismail Channa, who has since been arrested. Police also recovered the pistol used in the crime.

Solangi disclosed that Ayesha had married Ismail six months ago without her family's consent. At the time of their marriage, Ismail was already married and had four children. The incident reportedly occurred following a domestic dispute over Ayesha's presence on the ground floor of their residence, where Ismail's first wife and other family members lived.

Upon returning home and finding Ayesha downstairs, Ismail allegedly became enraged, accusing her of disobeying him. He dragged her upstairs, assaulted her, and verbally abused her, claiming his brothers had "ill intentions" toward her. When his anger escalated further, he shot her in the head, killing her on the spot.

Solangi also accused Ismail of being involved in illegal land grabbing in Mulla Essa Goth. Following a complaint by the victim's mother, Dilshad Solangi, police registered a murder case against Channa. Investigations are ongoing.

In another incident, a man, identified as Gul Sher, shot dead his 58-year-old wife Rukhsana in Farid Colony, Orangi Town, and fled the scene. Police suspect the murder might have been triggered by a family dispute. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police registered a case and launched a manhunt for the suspect.
