Kim Kardashian has spoken out following the guilty verdict in the 2016 armed robbery case that left her traumatized during Paris Fashion Week.
On May 23, a French court convicted eight people involved in the high-profile jewel heist, while two others were acquitted or faced unrelated charges. Due to the defendants’ advanced age and health issues, none will serve additional prison time.
Kardashian, 44, was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room, where assailants stole $9 million in jewelry, including a 20-carat diamond ring from then-husband Kanye West. In a statement, she expressed deep gratitude to French authorities for pursuing justice.
“This crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,” Kardashian said. “While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all.”
The verdict followed a month-long trial where Kardashian bravely testified in Paris, recalling how she begged for her life. Aomar Ait Khedache, the 69-year-old ringleader, apologized in a letter read aloud during the proceedings. Another defendant, Yunice Abbas, 72, who wrote a book titled I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, also expressed remorse.
Kardashian’s legal team praised her courage and reaffirmed her ongoing dedication to justice reform. The verdict came shortly after Kardashian completed her law program, continuing the legacy of her father, attorney Robert Kardashian.
She now looks forward to putting the traumatic chapter behind her while advocating for victims and meaningful legal change.
