Six policemen were suspended from service for freeing an arrested suspect from handcuffs and allowing him to gossip with two cops and record video.
Rawalpindi Operations SSP Kashif Zulfiqar on Friday took notice of a viral video showing a handcuffed suspect casually interacting with police personnel and posing for videos at the Judicial Complex.
The suspect, brought in for a court appearance, was seen freely moving about while in handcuffs and socialising with two policemen.
The footage, shared widely on social media, sparked immediate action from the authorities.
Following an inquiry, disciplinary action was taken against six officials, including the in-charge of the Judicial Complex.
Inspector Asif, ASI Mazhar, and Constables Faisal and Umair were suspended from service and issued show-cause notices along with formal charge sheets.
Sub-Inspector Javed and ASI Tahir were also served show-cause notices and asked to submit written explanations.
The SSP said that negligence or carelessness in the discharge of duty would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
