Future of publishing: Melania Trump launches AI-narrated audiobook

Priced at $25, audiobook announced via Melania's social media and described as "my story, my perspective, the truth"

US First Lady Melania Trump has embraced artificial intelligence in a bold new way, releasing her memoir as a fully AI-narrated audiobook. Titled Melania – The AI Audiobook, the seven-hour recording features a digitally recreated version of her voice, developed under her direct supervision.

Priced at $25, the audiobook was announced Thursday via social media, where Melania described it as “my story, my perspective, the truth.”

The voice, mimicking the Slovenian-born former model’s distinctive accent, narrates over black-and-white graphics of her face in a promotional video.

However, it's unclear whether the video uses her real voice or the AI replica.

“This is the future of publishing,” the First Lady declared, aligning herself with emerging trends in digital media while also stirring debate over AI’s role in public communication.

The audiobook follows the October release of her physical memoir, which included a $150 signed collector’s edition printed on "premium art paper".

According to the audiobook’s official website, the AI-generated narration was created under Melania’s “direction and supervision”, with plans to release multiple foreign language versions later this year.

The project arrives just days after Melania and President Donald Trump signed the "Take It Down Act" into law, a bill targeting the distribution of non-consensual explicit images, including those generated by AI.

Melania had publicly advocated for the legislation, warning of the dangers of deepfakes and malicious online content.

This apparent contradiction—embracing AI for personal storytelling while warning of its abuses—has sparked conversation about the ethics and limits of artificial intelligence in the public sphere.

Despite maintaining a low profile in Washington since President Trump’s return to office in January, Melania has pursued several high-profile ventures.

In addition to the AI audiobook, she is reportedly filming a documentary series for Amazon under a multimillion-dollar contract.
