Three sentenced in kidnapping case

MULTAN:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sentenced three accused in a case of kidnapping for ransom to life imprisonment after the charges were proven during the trial.

District and Sessions Judge Zulfiqar Ali announced the verdict following the completion of the trial.

The court handed down life imprisonment to Muhammad Asif, Ilyas and Nadeem Abbas for their involvement in the abduction of Sajid Raza in 2024.

According to the prosecution, the accused had kidnapped Sajid from near Bahawalpur Bypass in Mumtazabad with the intention of extorting ransom. The case was registered under Sections 365, 365A, 382 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Inspector Shaukat Hayat of Mumtazabad police led the investigation and submitted the challan based on evidence.

Following the proceedings, the court found the accused guilty.
