Toyota has unveiled the all-new sixth-generation RAV4, marking a significant step toward software-defined vehicles with the introduction of its advanced Arene software platform.
The global debut also showcases major updates in design, performance, and safety, as well as an expanded plug-in hybrid range.
The RAV4, one of Toyota’s most successful global models since its 1994 launch, will be the first to feature the Arene software development system.

The platform powers an upgraded multimedia experience, new voice assistant capabilities, and enhanced safety features via Toyota’s next-generation T-Mate system.
“This marks the start of our journey in building software-defined vehicles,” said Simon Humphries, Toyota’s Chief Branding Officer. “Arene allows for advanced digital capabilities in safety, navigation, and user experience.”
The new RAV4 will launch in North America, Japan, and Europe by March 2026.
It will be available in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, with the latter offering a WLTP-certified 100km all-electric range.
Powered by a 22.7kWh lithium-ion battery, the plug-in version supports fast DC charging from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes and quicker AC home charging via an 11kW onboard charger.
Performance is a key highlight, with the plug-in hybrid version offering up to 304 DIN hp in AWD-i and 268 DIN hp in front-wheel drive, achieving 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.
Improved handling is supported by a lower centre of gravity and increased chassis rigidity.
Toyota’s new geo-fencing feature optimises electric driving by analysing routes, traffic conditions, and environmental zones, automatically switching between hybrid and EV modes.
In terms of safety, Arene enables the debut of enhanced Toyota Safety Sense features.
These include Lane Change Assist, Front Cross Traffic Alert, and an upgraded Pre-Collision System capable of detecting head-on obstacles, bicycles, and motorcycles.
A new Remote Park feature allows drivers to park using a smartphone.

The GR SPORT variant brings motorsport-inspired design and performance upgrades, including a wider tread, sport-tuned suspension, and exclusive styling elements.
A next-generation 12.9-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch digital driver display offer enhanced visuals, intuitive controls, and a refined voice assistant—all updatable over the air.
The new MyToyota app extends connectivity beyond the car with Smart Digital Key+, media streaming, and remote control options.
