Jill Biden faces criticism amid questions over president’s health disclosure

Former First Lady Jill Biden is facing increasing criticism online following former President Joe Biden’s recent prostate cancer diagnosis. 

Critics are raising concerns about her role in handling the president’s health and medical transparency.

On May 18, 2025, Biden's personal office announced that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 and metastasis to the bone. Despite the severity, the cancer is hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective treatment options. The diagnosis came after Biden experienced urinary symptoms, leading to medical evaluation and the discovery of a prostate nodule. 

While the announcement prompted messages of concern and sympathy from across the political spectrum, it also triggered a wave of politically charged responses online—particularly among right-wing commentators.

Some online users accused Jill Biden of putting her public role as First Lady ahead of her husband's well-being. Hashtags such as #ElderAbuse and #ArrestJillBiden have trended across platforms like X (formerly Twitter), with critics claiming she should have done more to ensure earlier medical intervention or full public disclosure.

Additionally, several conservative figures and commentators questioned how such an advanced illness went undetected for so long, and whether the White House provided accurate health updates in recent years.

Supporters of the former First Lady have pushed back, calling the attacks politically motivated and lacking evidence. Medical professionals have noted that prostate cancer can often progress silently, and diagnosis at later stages is not uncommon in elderly patients.

In response to the diagnosis, former President Donald Trump expressed his support through a Truth Social post, stating, "Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden's recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery."

Former Vice President Kamala Harris also offered her condolences, emphasizing Biden's resilience and expressing hope for a full recovery. She described him as "a fighter" and affirmed that he would confront the disease with courage and determination.
