Peacock has officially announced The Paper as the next installment in The Office universe, with the new mockumentary series premiering in September 2025.

Created by The Office showrunner Greg Daniels and Michael Koman (Nathan for You), the series shifts focus from Dunder Mifflin to the struggling newsroom of a historic local paper in Toledo, Ohio.

Domhnall Gleeson stars as the publisher of the failing Midwestern newspaper, leading a crew of untrained staffers forced to double as volunteer reporters due to budget constraints. The series takes a comedic look at the decline of local journalism and the impact of the internet on traditional media, with Daniels calling it “a fruitful premise” during a recent interview.

Oscar Nuñez will reprise his role as Oscar Martinez from The Office, continuing the character’s journey in a new setting. He jokingly remarked at NBCUniversal’s upfront event that he once imagined Oscar moving to a more cosmopolitan place—only to end up in Toledo, which he noted has “three times the population of Scranton.”

The series also stars Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. Several cast members, including Ikumelo, Edelman, and Mo Welch, also contribute as writers. Guest stars include Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, and Nancy Lenehan.

The Paper is produced by Universal Television, with executive producers Daniels, Koman, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas.
