Simu Liu has announced his engagement to longtime partner Allison Hsu, sharing the news via Instagram.
The actor, best known for his lead role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, revealed the romantic Paris proposal with a series of candid photographs featuring Hsu displaying her engagement ring.
The 36-year-old Marvel star captioned one image, “From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always.” In response, Hsu commented, “I love you fiancé!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Hsu also posted her own message alongside the announcement: “Us forever.” The photos show the couple embracing with the Eiffel Tower in the background, adding a personal touch to the public reveal.
Liu and Hsu, a marketing director, were first romantically linked in late 2022. Since then, Liu has spoken openly about their relationship, expressing his gratitude and happiness. Speaking to PEOPLE in August 2023, Liu said, “She’s absolutely changed my life, so I’m very, very grateful to have her.” In a later interview, he reflected on their connection, saying, “It’s this feeling of ‘Oh, right, it does exist.’”
The couple have been frequently seen together at public events, including the 96th Annual Academy Awards and the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Liu’s fans have followed their journey closely on social media.
Currently filming the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in 2026, Liu noted that despite his demanding schedule, he finds strength in their partnership. “I feel challenged and loved and cared for, and I feel championed,” he said.
