Labourer shot dead, body with torture marks found

The victim's cousin and family members denied any personal enmity with anyone.

KARACHI:

A man loses life in a target killing incident in Lyari area while the police found a body with torture marks in Gulshan-e-Maymar.

According to details, unknown suspects, riding a motorcycle, shot dead 38-year-old Saleem Soomro, son of Rahim Soomro near Agra Taj Private Hospital in Lyari.

The victim was sitting on a bench in front of a private hospital on Salman Azad Road within the jurisdiction of Kalri police station on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

The victim, father of three children, was a crane operator and worked for a private company in Korangi. He lived at a short distance from the crime scene.

His cousin told The Express Tribune that the victim used to sit at the same place very often. The cousin further mentioned that the assailants did not take Saleem's motorcycle or wallet.

The victim's cousin and family members denied any personal enmity with anyone. Meanwhile, the SHO of Kalri was listed in the daily log as patrolling the area at the time of the incident but has since gone missing. The duty officer and news reporters made several attempts to contact him, but he did not respond.

Tortured body found

The police found body of a youth with torture marks near Afghan Basti bridge in the Gulshan-e-Maymar area. The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Shoaib, who is said to be from Shikarpur. The police see personal enmity behind the murder. However, further investigation is on.

Injured in firing

A young man, identified as 21-year-old Muhammad Shan, was injured in a firing incident in Abdullah Goth area of Shah Latif Town. He was rushed to Jinnah Hospital. Rescue officials say that the incident took place during a dispute.
