As Blake Shelton prepares to release his new album For Recreational Use Only on May 9, the country star is also celebrating a major milestone: 10 years together with wife Gwen Stefani.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Shelton opened up about their relationship, collaboration, and the secret behind their lasting happiness.
“It honestly does feel like time is flying,” said Shelton, 48. “We’re at the point where we say, ‘Remember when...’ and realize it was eight years ago. It’s crazy.”
Despite their long relationship, Shelton says it still feels fresh. “It feels just as exciting and new and happy as it did early on,” he shared. “I feel like that might be the key to happiness.”
The couple, who met on The Voice in 2015, teamed up for a new duet, “Hangin’ On,” featured on Shelton’s upcoming album. Though only one track made the cut, Shelton revealed they recorded two duets and plan to save the second for a future project.
“Gwen is way more particular when it comes to a lyric,” he said, adding that recording with her is both a challenge and a joy. “We live together, so we sing around the house and prep long before we get to the studio.”
As fans await Shelton’s new music, his reflections offer a heartfelt glimpse into a decade-long love story that continues to inspire — both on and off stage.
