Country music star Cody Johnson had a special announcement at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards — he and his wife Brandi Johnson are expecting their third child, and it’s a boy.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE from the red carpet at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, Johnson, 37, revealed, “We're having a little boy! We decided to make this our announcement to the world and our gender reveal as well.” While the couple did not share a due date, the moment marked a heartfelt milestone for their growing family.
Cody and Brandi, who have been married for over a decade, are already parents to daughters Clara Mae, 10, and Cori, 8. Johnson expressed his joy about welcoming a son, saying, “My girls are everything to me… but I’m excited to watch them help raise this little boy.”
The ’Til You Can’t singer also reflected on how this experience differs from his earlier parenting years, noting he’s in a better place both financially and professionally. “He's gonna get a horse a little quicker than my kids did,” Johnson joked.
When asked about fathering a boy, Johnson said he would’ve been happy with either gender, but admitted, “I was pretty happy when I saw the gender reveal.”
Johnson, a nominee for Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards, called the recognition a culmination of years of hard work — from both himself and his team — and hinted that no matter the outcome, he's already aiming for the next goal.
