Fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker, a longtime Met Gala staple, was noticeably absent from the 2025 Met Gala red carpet, leaving fans wondering where she was during fashion’s biggest night.

The celebrated actress confirmed she couldn’t attend this year’s gala due to work obligations.

“I have to work,” Parker told Entertainment Tonight before the event, referring to her scheduling conflict. “But there’s going to be so much to see, and I look forward to seeing what everybody does and how they interpret the theme and the homework they did for the assignment. A very joyful assignment.”

This year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrated the influence of Black fashion and bespoke tailoring. Although SJP couldn’t walk the red carpet, she made it clear how much the event means to her. “I care a lot about it and I want to try to honor the work of the curators and everybody who sort of inspired this moment for those of us who get to attend,” she said.

Known for her bold and thoughtful fashion choices, Parker has long been admired for her personal approach to style. In a past interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, she shared, “Style is what the individual brings. Fashion is what is offered to the consumer. Style is what you make of it.”
