Student union polls in schools on May 5

Candidates will be allowed to campaign in classrooms and school grounds.

RAWALPINDI:

Student union elections in all public high and higher secondary schools for boys and girls across the Rawalpindi division will be held on May 5.

The election campaign has officially begun.

Nomination papers submitted by candidates on Saturday will be scrutinised on Monday, April 28, in the presence of the candidates. Senior teachers have formed the election committees and boards. Approved candidates will be allowed to issue their campaign posters on April 29, and formal campaigning will begin on April 30.

Candidates will be allowed to campaign in classrooms and school grounds.

The final list of candidates, following any objections or appeals, will be published on May 3.

Ballot papers will be printed on the same day. Polling and result announcements will take place on May 5, while appeals regarding the results and their decisions will be handled on May 6.

The same day, a formal circular announcing the winning candidates will be released.

The Ministry of Education will later schedule the oath-taking ceremony for the elected student leaders.

According to the code of conduct, candidates are strictly prohibited from using the name of any political or religious party in their campaigns.
