The Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday postponed the hearing of Arshad Khan Chaiwala's petition against the blocking of his Pakistani citizenship and national identity card (CNIC) for indefinite period of time.
The case regarding the citizenship status of Arshad, who rose to global fame on social media for his striking blue eyes, remains unresolved.
During the hearing, a representative from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) requested additional time to submit further reports, evidence, and documents related to Arshad's petition. The court granted the request.
Arshad's legal counsel also sought more time to respond, which the court approved, subsequently adjourning the hearing for an indefinite period with a "date in office" status.
Justice Jawad Hassan presided over the hearing, while Deputy Attorney General Sajid Tanoli represented the government. In compliance with the court's directives, intelligence agencies ISI and IB submitted reports claiming that Arshad is an Afghan national.
According to the petition, Arshad Khan, formerly known as Zar Khan, son of Baz Mohammad Khan, was born in 1999 in Shah Allah Ditta, Islamabad.
He received his early education from a government school in the same locality. His father, Baz Khan, was issued a Pakistani passport in 1984 and travelled to Saudi Arabia for work in 1989.
