Sharjeel urges reopening of roads as canal issue resolved
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the issue of controversial canals has been resolved thanks to the tireless efforts and effective strategy of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
In a statement, the Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit said the matter will be permanently settled following the official meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) on May 2.
He urged all political parties and the lawyers' community to reopen roads to ensure smooth transport of goods and prevent further economic losses. He warned that the closure of highways is severely impacting the public, livestock movement, import-export activities, farmers, and the poor.
He said that if protests continue, at the very least, roads must remain open to maintain traffic flow.
Memon appealed for peaceful demonstrations.
He said he is in contact with the lawyers' community and political parties, and that the Sindh government is ready to negotiate with all stakeholders.
He also urged political parties and lawyers to remain vigilant against disruptive elements, stressing that in the current national situation, wise and collective decision-making is essential.
