The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a directive to farmers living along the India-Pakistan border to complete their harvest and vacate their fields within 48 hours.

The move comes in the wake of a recent terrorist attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which left 26 tourists dead.

According to reports, announcements are being made through local gurdwaras in the border districts of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Fazilka in Indian Punjab, warning farmers that failure to immediately clear their land could result in the closure of border access gates.

Farmers are also being cautioned that their access to the fields situated near the border could be suspended indefinitely.

Approximately 45,000 acres of agricultural land lie between the border fence and the zero line in these areas, where farmers primarily cultivate wheat, cotton, and other crops.

Living alongside the 530-kilometer-long international border, these communities already face regular security restrictions; however, the recent attack has intensified the pressure on them significantly.

Meanwhile, life remains normal on the Pakistani side of the border.

Farmers continue their agricultural activities without fear or disruption, and the wheat harvesting season is progressing smoothly across various border regions.
