The quake registered a magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale. It originated at a depth of 130 kilometres, with the epicentre located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region.
Officials reported no casualties or significant damage following the tremors.
Residents briefly evacuated homes and offices in fear but returned shortly after. Seismologists said the Hindu Kush area frequently experiences seismic activity.
