CM eyes joint ventures with Ethiopia
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Ambassador of Ethiopia Dr Jamal Baker Abdula have agreed to increase cooperation in the fields of agriculture, education, health, information technology and trade.
Matters pertaining to mutual interest, promotion and strengthening of bilateral relations along with enhancing cooperation in various sectors were discussed in a meeting between the chief minister and the ambassador.
The chief minister congratulated the Ethiopian ambassador on restoration of direct flights from Ethiopia to Pakistan. "There are vast possibilities for opening up avenues of cooperation between Pakistan and Ethiopia," she added.
Dr Abdula appreciated the development strategy and welfare initiatives of the Punjab government. He said Ethiopia is keen to strengthen bilateral relations with Pakistan, especially Punjab.
Immunisation week
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said in her message issued to mark the World Immunisation Week that the most effective weapon to combat diseases is adopting caution and awareness along with ensuring vaccination. A vigorous vaccination campaign is under way against polio, measles, TB, hepatitis, tetanus, pneumonia and other fatal diseases.
