Four killed, five injured in IED explosion in Kalat

The blast near Kabuto destroyed a vehicle, killing two women and two children, with five others injured.

In a tragic incident in Balochistan’s Kalat district, an improvised explosive device (IED) placed by the roadside detonated, killing four people, including women and children, and injuring five others, local media reported on Thursday.

According to sources from the Levies, the blast occurred near Kabuto, completely destroying the vehicle that was passing by. The explosion resulted in the immediate deaths of two women and two children, while five others sustained injuries.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, while the injured were referred to a hospital in Quetta for further treatment.

This attack came just hours after security forces thwarted a major terrorist plot in Balochistan’s Noshki district, where four suicide vests were seized by intelligence agencies.

The vests had been hidden in a large bag inside a trash heap near the Bypass Road, close to the Deputy Commissioner’s House. The bomb disposal squad successfully neutralised the explosives.
