Netflix has unveiled the first teaser for Wednesday season 2, confirming the series will return in two instalments later this year. The gothic teen drama, led by Jenna Ortega, follows Wednesday Addams as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy while confronting supernatural forces and family secrets.

The teaser, accompanied by a chilling rendition of “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music, sets the tone for another mysterious chapter. The trailer opens with Wednesday in airport security, nonchalantly surrendering a bizarre arsenal of weapons, establishing a familiar offbeat mood.

As the music plays, key moments flash by, including reunions, combat scenes, and ominous clues about what lies ahead. The soundtrack plays a vital narrative role, with the teaser using music to symbolise both literal plot points and emotional undertones.

Jenna Ortega reprises her role and also serves as a producer for the new season. Returning cast members include Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Fred Armisen.

New series regulars such as Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, and Evie Templeton join the ensemble, alongside high-profile guest stars including Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, and Lady Gaga in an undisclosed role.

Tim Burton returns to direct, supported by Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar continue as showrunners and executive producers.

The season promises deeper supernatural themes and possibly more family-focused narratives, hinted at by scenes of Wednesday reuniting with Enid and her relatives.

Wednesday season 2 returns in two instalments beginning 6 August and concluding 3 September.
