HARIPUR:

Panic has gripped the remote mountain village of Chaskalan in Khanpur, Haripur, where a marauding leopard has been terrorising residents and decimating their livestock.

Several incidents of leopards attacking and killing goats in various villages have been reported. Local residents stated that a wild leopard entered the upper village of Chaskalan, instilling fear among the villagers.

The leopard attacked two houses and killed the farmer's valuable goats. It later attempted to attack a local man named Niyaz Amad, but when the villagers raised an alarm, the leopard retreated into the jungle and disappeared.

Additionally, locals recounted a previous incident when a wild lion had attacked the village, leaving a father and son injured and resulting in the deaths of dozens of livestock. The Wildlife Department has yet to take any effective action, leaving the villagers in a state of fear.
