Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi, has issued a stern warning to motorcyclists riding without helmets, stating that enforcement will be tightened in the days ahead, Express News reported.
Speaking about traffic reform efforts, the IG said, “We will impose stricter penalties on those not wearing helmets. Motorcycles will be impounded and only released once the rider brings a helmet. We want traffic police to be public-friendly, but safety comes first.”
Highlighting progress on curbing street crime, Nabi revealed that 400 suspected robbers have been arrested in recent operations across the province.
He further announced that a significant boost in investigative capacity is expected soon. “Over a thousand investigation officers will be inducted as ASIs. This will bring a noticeable improvement in policing,” he noted.
Addressing accountability within the force, the IG affirmed that police officers involved in criminal activities are being prosecuted. “Cases have been registered against police personnel, and legal action is being taken,” he added.
