A leopard infiltrated the village of Chaskalan in Upper Khanpur, Haripur, attacking two homes and killing several goats, instilling fear among the local residents.
According to eyewitnesses, the leopard attempted to attack a local resident but retreated into the forest after villagers raised an alarm. This incident follows a previous attack in the area where a big wild cat injured a father and son and killed dozens of livestock.
Residents report that wild animals, including leopards, and bears, are descending from nearby forests into human settlements due to food shortages, especially during winter months. These animals prey on livestock such as goats, cows, and chickens, causing significant losses to local farmers.
The community has expressed concern over the lack of action from the Wildlife Department, urging authorities to implement measures to protect both residents and their livestock from future attacks.
