Jameela Jamil is getting real in a candid new interview, admitting she was once a “massive troll” on the internet and opening up about everything from celebrity chaos to her bold opinions on pop culture.
Speaking ahead of her Australian tour, An Evening with Jameela Jamil, the actor and podcaster dished on her wildest celebrity encounter, media pressure on aging, and how she once faked “shitting fire” in a viral video that changed global ad policies.
“I used to be a massive troll and bitch on the internet,” Jamil confessed. “I was unhappy, hadn’t dealt with my mental health, and wasn’t getting laid.” She now uses empathy to deal with online haters, adding, “No one happy and well-sexed is ever writing a horrible comment to a stranger online.”
In one of her more infamous stunts, Jamil created a parody video pretending to scream while sitting on a toilet to expose the dangers of diet teas. Despite her team’s protests, the clip went viral and led Facebook and Instagram to restrict diet ad targeting to minors.
Among her chaotic celebrity run-ins, Jamil shared a particularly cringeworthy moment: knocking over Al Pacino at a Hollywood party while smuggling wagyu steaks under her skirt.
She also took a swipe at the modern music industry, calling today’s pop stars “too young and too hot,” and advocating for the return of older, less polished musicians.
As for aging? Jamil hates the term “aging gracefully.” “It just means live until you’re 30, then die,” she said, preferring to call her journey “aging peacefully.”
Jamil will appear in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne this April for her Australian tour.
