18,000 cops deployed for polio workers' safety

Punjab Police has mobilised a security contingent of over 18,000 officers to protect polio vaccination teams across the province, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar announced.
The security measures come as part of the ongoing national polio eradication campaign that will continue until April 27.
IGP Anwar issued strict directives to ensure complete protection for health workers, warning that any negligence in security arrangements would not be tolerated.
The security deployment includes 457 inspectors, 1,013 sub-inspectors, 1,654 assistant sub-inspectors and more than 350 female police constables.
