KARACHI:

The city is sweltering under a severe heatwave, with hot winds from Balochistan replacing the usual sea breezes.

The city experienced hot and dry weather throughout the day, with humid conditions in the afternoon on Sunday. The maximum temperature recorded was 40.4 degrees Celsius.

According to the Met department, this unusual heatwave is expected to persist until Wednesday, with temperatures potentially exceeding 41 degrees Celsius - a rise of four to six degrees in maximum temperature.

Sea breezes are likely to remain interrupted during the day but may resume in the evening. The department has advised children, women, and the elderly, to avoid direct sun exposure and stay hydrated.

Meanwhile, several districts in rural Sindh continue to face intense heat, with Jacobabad recording 43 degrees Celsius and Shaheed Benazirabad hitting 42 degrees Celsius.
