The Sindh government and Paigham-e-Pakistan collaborated in an initiative to award scholarships to 200 children of convicted prisoners.
The scholarships were awarded at a special ceremony organised in the Karachi Central Jail on Saturday.
Under this initiative, recipients will receive free education from playgroup through university, aiming to transform them into responsible, educated, and respectable citizens.
In his address, IG Prisons Qazi Nazir Ahmed said that the children of prisoners are not heirs to their parents' crimes but represent the future of Pakistan. He assured that the children would be admitted to schools of their choice without their backgrounds being disclosed, ensuring an environment of equality and dignity.
Prominent social figure Asif Moosa also pledged his support, committing to personally cover the costs of course materials, uniforms, and other educational necessities to ensure uninterrupted learning.
