Peshawar Zalmi etched their name in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history on Saturday, registering the tournament’s biggest-ever victory with a commanding 120-run win over Multan Sultans in Rawalpindi.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Zalmi found themselves in early trouble, losing both star openers for just five runs. However, the middle order mounted a fierce counterattack, turning the tide dramatically.
Mohammad Haris led the charge with an explosive 45 off just 21 balls, including three sixes, while Tom Kohler-Cadmore anchored the innings with a blistering 52 off 30 deliveries, smashing five sixes. The duo stitched together a rapid 79-run stand to set the tone.
Hussain Talat (37 off 29) and Mitchell Owen (34 off 15) maintained the momentum through the middle overs. The fireworks continued as Abdul Samad delivered a stunning cameo, hammering 40 off just 14 balls to lift Zalmi to a daunting total of 227/6 in their 20 overs.
In response, Multan Sultans never looked settled in the chase, losing wickets at regular intervals. Usman Khan offered brief resistance with a 22-ball 44, but once he fell, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled, eventually being bowled out for 107.
With this thumping win, Zalmi broke the previous record for the biggest margin of victory in PSL history, surpassing Lahore Qalandars’ 119-run triumph over Islamabad United during the eighth edition of the league.
