A 'Clueless' television series is under way at Peacock, Alicia Silverstone to reprise her iconic role

Cher’s not done with us yet.

Ugh as if!

Alicia Silverstone is officially stepping back into her iconic plaid skirt as Cher Horowitz in a brand-new Clueless television series, now in development at Peacock.

Based on the beloved 1995 teen comedy, the new series is being crafted by Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, along with Dollface creator Jordan Weiss.

Silverstone isn’t just reprising her role—she’s also stepping into the role of executive producer, joined by the film’s original director and writer Amy Heckerling and producer Robert Lawrence.

This isn’t the first time a Clueless revival has been in the works. A previous attempt in 2020 centered around Dionne fizzled out, but Peacock is giving the franchise another go, this time with Cher at the forefront once more.

The original Clueless was a witty, ultra-stylish spin on Jane Austen’s Emma, turning Cher into a fashion-forward, well-meaning Beverly Hills teen navigating high school, matchmaking, and self-discovery.

It became an instant classic, spawning a TV spin-off in the late ’90s that ran for three seasons.

Plot details for the new series are still tightly under wraps, but it promises to continue Cher’s story.

Silverstone's return follows her surprise revival of the character in a Super Bowl commercial two years ago that sent fans into a nostalgic frenzy.

Since her Clueless breakout, Silverstone has starred in films like Batman & Robin, Blast from the Past, and Beauty Shop, and earned critical acclaim for her recent TV work in American Horror Stories, The Baby-Sitters Club, and American Woman.

Up next, she’s starring in the Yorgos Lanthimos-directed Bugonia and producing and appearing in the Acorn TV series Irish Blood.

With Silverstone back in the driver's seat and the OG creative team reuniting, this reboot could be anything but clueless.
