Bates plays Madeline Matlock, a sharp-witted attorney in her 70s who uses her seemingly harmless persona to uncover dark secrets within a prestigious law firm. In the season finale, Billy assists Sarah with a critical case while Madeline and Olympia face a confidential and pressing situation tied to Madeline’s personal mission to investigate her daughter’s mysterious death.
