An intense heatwave has gripped parts of Balochistan, with temperatures reaching as high as 46 degrees Celsius in several districts, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The provincial capital, Quetta, recorded a maximum of 35°C on Wednesday, while the popular hill station of Ziarat reported a relatively milder 25°C. In other areas, temperatures soared to 43°C in Turbat and Nokundi, 36°C in Chaman, and 35°C in Gwadar and Jiwani.

In the town of Sibi, the mercury peaked at 46°C, making it one of the hottest spots in the province this week.

Weather experts forecast that most parts of Balochistan will remain hot and dry in the coming days. However, there are chances of dust storms, strong winds, and isolated thunderstorms, particularly in Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, and nearby regions.

Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures against the extreme weather, especially in areas with limited infrastructure and exposure to high heat.

Moreover, Sindh is also set to experience an intense heatwave this week, with daytime temperatures forecast to rise as high as 49°C in parts of the province.

The city of Nawabshah is expected to record the highest temperatures, reaching up to 49°C by Friday.

Nearby districts including Mohenjo-daro, Dadu, and Mithi are also likely to see temperatures peaking at 46-48°C over the coming days.

In Hyderabad, the mercury is forecast to rise between 43-46°C, while Karachi is expected to remain relatively cooler with highs between 34-37°C, although humidity levels may reach up to 71%, increasing the discomfort index.

The PMD has warned of health risks associated with the extreme heat, particularly in areas with limited access to cooling or water facilities.

Citizens have been advised to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours and stay hydrated.

Meanwhile, coastal towns like Thatta are forecast to experience slightly lower temperatures, with highs between 36-39°C, but accompanied by higher humidity.
