A 14-year-old girl holding American citizenship, who was reportedly abducted from the Sundar area of Lahore, has been safely recovered from Jhang district, police confirmed on Wednesday.

The teenager, identified as Fatima Zahra, was allegedly lured and taken by a suspect named Hassan, who has since been taken into custody and is facing abduction charges, according to Express News.

The case gained immediate attention from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, prompting swift action from law enforcement. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation Zeeshan Raza assigned a specialised team to the case, which led to the successful recovery of the girl and her safe return to her parents.

The abduction was initially reported by the girl’s mother at the Sundar Police Station. Authorities said the suspect manipulated the minor and transported her to another city.

Using surveillance and tracking methods, the police traced the suspect’s movements and located both the suspect and the victim in Jhang.

DIG Raza emphasized that a strong prosecution file is being prepared to ensure the suspect is held accountable. “Protecting the lives and property of citizens is our top priority,” he said.

SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed announced commendation certificates for the officers involved in the recovery operation.
