TCU centre Sedona Prince was not selected in the 2025 WNBA Draft, despite early projections placing her in the first or second round, as allegations of abuse and doubts about her age and injury history overshadowed her on-court profile.
The 2025 WNBA Draft concluded Monday with several top NCAA prospects landing spots in the league — but Sedona Prince, a 6-foot-7 centre from TCU, was not among them. Once seen as a likely first-round selection, Prince’s draft stock plummeted amid controversy and concerns, leaving her undrafted.
Prince, 24, faced scrutiny not only due to her age — she turns 25 in May — but also because of allegations of abuse from multiple former partners. Four women have accused her of misconduct since 2019, including two alleging sexual abuse and two accusing her of physical violence.
While no official action was taken by TCU, a petition to remove her from the team gathered over 200,000 signatures. Prince remained with the Horned Frogs and helped guide them to their first Elite Eight appearance, averaging 15 points per game during the tournament run.
Still, questions persisted. An anonymous WNBA general manager told ESPN that her age raised doubts about her dominance at the college level: “She’s like a 24-year-old playing against, what, sometimes 18-year-olds?... It’s hard to tell, ‘Are you that good, or just older?’”
Prince began her college career in 2017 and has played across three programmes due to injury setbacks and NCAA waivers. Her long collegiate tenure, including a serious leg injury prior to her freshman year, added further concerns for professional teams.
Various sports sites had projected Prince as a late first-round pick. Instead, her TCU teammates Hailey Van Lith and Madison Conner were drafted by Chicago and Seattle, respectively. Prince, however, was left without a team.
Her strong performances in March Madness, including a 21-point outing against Notre Dame, were not enough to outweigh the controversy. In her final appearance, she fouled out in the fourth quarter of TCU’s loss to Texas, scoring just four points.
No team ultimately took a chance on Prince, despite unnamed GMs expressing interest. Her absence from the draft board suggests teams viewed the risk as too high — regardless of her talent.
