RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Police, in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), raided an alleged inter-provincial drug trafficking network, arresting one suspect and seizing over one kilogram of opium and more than 74 kilograms of hashish, along with two vehicles.

According to a police spokesperson, the operation turned deadly when the suspects, attempting to evade capture, rammed into motorcyclists, killing one on the spot and seriously injuring another.

He said the raid was conducted by a joint team from Westridge police and ANF after receiving intelligence about a major drug consignment.

The team set up a checkpoint and tried to stop suspicious vehicles. In an attempt to flee, the traffickers drove recklessly, hitting the two motorcyclists.

One of the suspects, identified as Shehzad, was arrested on the scene, while his accomplice, Yasir, managed to escape, abandoning the vehicle.

Authorities recovered over one kilogram of opium and more than 74 kilograms of hashish from the two vehicles, both of which were taken into custody.
