Veteran actor Richard Kind is reaching his largest audience yet in his new role as sidekick and announcer on Netflix’s Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney.

Known for his roles in Spin City, Mad About You, and Only Murders in the Building, Kind now brings his improvisational flair and comedic charm to the unpredictable late-night live show hosted by John Mulaney.

Originally launched in 2024 as John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in L.A., the revamped series returned this year with a 12-episode order. The show blends Mulaney’s monologues with live caller interaction and guest panels, covering quirky topics like squatters and funerals in real-time, with zero scripts and lots of spontaneity.

Kind describes the experience as both exhilarating and chaotic. “It’s anarchy,” he jokes, admitting that broadcasting live globally is more nerve-wracking than anything he’s done before. Still, he thrives on the unscripted energy and audience engagement.

Despite decades in show business, Kind confesses to frequent self-doubt, saying he often feels like a fraud and constantly seeks affirmation. However, he embraces these insecurities, finding comfort in being “good enough to never stink.”

Beyond his on-screen success, Kind reflects on his modest beginnings at Chicago’s Second City and his days working in his father’s jewelry store. From stage to screen, and now live streaming, his unique blend of humor, humility, and heart continues to resonate with audiences new and old.

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. Eastern on Netflix.
