The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood has spoken out against a recent Saturday Night Live sketch, calling it “mean and unfunny.”
The April 12 episode featured a pre-recorded spoof of the hit HBO series, where comedian Sarah Sherman portrayed a caricatured version of Wood’s character, Chelsea.
In an Instagram Story shared on Sunday, Wood expressed her disappointment, saying, “Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple of weeks ago.” She added, “Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about – but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”

The sketch, while mostly targeting political figures like Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also included an exaggerated portrayal of Chelsea. At one point, Jon Hamm’s RFK Jr. character mentions removing fluoride from drinking water, prompting Sherman’s over-the-top Chelsea to reply, “Fluoride? What’s that?” The use of a heavy accent and false teeth seemed to hit a nerve with Wood.
Following her post, Wood reported receiving “thousands of messages” of support and even an apology from the SNL team.
