Lizzo made a politically charged return to Saturday Night Live this weekend, delivering a fiery performance and a not-so-subtle jab at U.S. President Donald Trump.
The 36-year-old singer took the stage in a crop top emblazoned with the word “TARRIFIED” — a bold dig at the administration’s latest tariffs policy.
The appearance marked Lizzo’s first SNL performance since facing a lawsuit from three former backup dancers accusing her of misconduct, including sexual harassment. Despite the ongoing legal battle, which she has denied, Lizzo appeared energised and unapologetic during her performance on the Jon Hamm-hosted episode.
Fans quickly flooded social media with reactions. “LIZZO’S SHIRT SAYS ‘TARRIFIED’ OMG IM DEAD,” wrote one X user. Others hailed the look as “iconic,” “legendary,” and “a whole statement.” Some critics, however, were less impressed, with one viewer quipping, “She needs to tariff some of that food she’s eating.”
Under a backdrop of the American flag, Lizzo performed her latest single “Still Bad,” and later returned to the stage in a fitted, sheer gold gown with a dramatic cape to debut “Love In Real Life.”
The single, released in February, is her first solo effort since contributing “Pink” to the Barbie film soundtrack.
